The Metabolic Impact of High Levels of Fructose Ingestion
Dr. Jeff Moss from Moss Nutrition teaches the 19th webinar in a series of webinars from his "Entry Level Clinical Nutrition™" program. The title of this webinar is "The Metabolic Impact of High Levels of Fructose Ingestion."
This webinar is actually an extension of the discussion on refeeding syndrome. Why? Refeeding syndrome primarily considers the metabolic impact of ingestion of large amounts of carbohydrate after a significant period of fasting, which could be as little as a few hours. What happens metabolically when this carbohydrate "binge" is limited to fructose-laden refined foods, as happens so often these days in our modern society? While much of what happens is similar to that which occurs with all other forms of concentrated carbohydrate, other sobering and health-compromising aspects are very unique to fructose. Therefore, given the shear numbers of the US population that are consuming fructose in such a manner, it is imperative that functional medicine practitioners have a thorough understanding of fructose metabolism and how to address the metabolic needs of this ever growing patient population.
Dr. Moss's Entry Level Clinical Nutrition™ (ELCN) program will reduce your patient's 'allostatic load' and provide a means for you to offer most patients, a relatively quick, inexpensive and noticeable improvement in their quality of life. Helping your patients to feel better fast is the best route to improved overall treatment compliance and satisfaction.
